NaNoWriMo

I haven't posted in over a year, but recently I've felt that desire to post on the blog I've shamefully neglected.

For the past two weeks I've been doing a little thing called "NaNoWriMo" which is a challenge for anyone who has a desire to write. It's a blast to do and I highly encourage everyone to give it a try next year. 50,000 words in only a month is the goal for this challenge, and though I'm pretty far behind, I'm extremely excited to get back to my writing. :)

On the top left is a widget which tracks my writing progress on this challenge. I thought I'd post it here so that anyone could track where I am in this. :) It's obvious that I have a lot of typing to do, but with the help of coffee and Florence + The Machine; I can do anything.

Alright, time to share what it's like to type and type and type to meet a goal.
When I first started, I was so excited that I could hardly wait for November 1st to come. I had everything mapped out and names written down and even had things down to the ending. But when November 1st came, I realized that (pardon my language) my story was crap. I had only thought of the beginning of the story and the end without much thought on the middle (the most important part) and therefore I was stuck.

It was nearly day 5 when I had an entirely new idea (which I'll share later) and began typing away with a cup of coffee the size of a swimming pool. I didn't know what to name my characters or even how many to introduce, but I was too excited to care. I know this may be a curse on me, but so far I have yet to have writer's block. I've had this thing called "Homework is keeping me from my dreams."

Alright, that is just a small insight of what it's been like so far. I'll keep everyone 'posted' once I push myself to type until I only have stubs left where my fingers once were. :)
